Happy Capybara Day!
The Capybara, native to South America, is the largest living rodent getting up to 4 feet and 174 pounds! Their heads are structured like hippos and they can sleep in the water with just their nose, ears, and eyes exposed. Notoriously social and friendly, Capybara are known to befriend birds, monkeys and even cats.
Summerfield Zoo in Belvedere even offers encounters with Capybara.
